Exclusive EDMsauce.com Interview with Nathassia

Nathassia has successfully forge her own style & sound as an electronic music artist with recent support from Blasterjaxx, Andi Durrant & BL3ND. ‘In My Head’ is the second collaboration between Nathassia and D3FAI which has gone on to receive incredible support from MTV and artists from across the scene so we caught up with Nathassia to discuss her brand new track.

What inspired you to create ‘In My Head’?
‘In My Head’ was inspired by my imagination, dreams & interest in virtual reality.

How does this release compare to some of your other tracks?
It’s a bit more hard-hitting and has darker big room vibes than my previous EDM releases, which really gets my body moving!

How has the initial reaction been?
Incredibly it has had a flying start, it has been playlisted for a 2nd week in a row on MTV Music, MTV Base and MTV International and right now it is up to number 13 in Club MTV’s Big 20. It is also up t number 13 in Cool Cuts Chart.

Can we hear any of your musical influences within ‘In My Head’?
Currently only the big room and techno mixes are available which reflects more of my Dutch background and love for EDM. In later mixes I will being bringing in more of my multucultural sounds & influences.

Which part of the track is your favourite?
I really love the hard synth instrumental part by D3FAI, he nailed it big time and it felt sooo good dancing to it, which you can see me doing wildly in the music video!

Who would you love to see supporting this release?
Tiësto would be amazing.

What was it like working with D3FAI for this project?
Following the success of our previous collab ‘Change The World’ that was also playlisted on MTV, it was obvious that we rock as a team! I love his productions so it was really great to be working with him again.

Have you two planned to work together again in the future?
Currently we are enjoying the success of ‘In My Head’ whilst both of us are taking the time to focuss on solo projects but we continue to love each others work so I am sure we will be working together again in the future.

What else can we expect from you this year?
I am working on my new NATHASSIA artist album out later this year. I am also looking forward to building my Goddess Is A DJ project and am working on several productions as a follow up to my debut remix as Goddess Is A DJ.

On the live show front, I am excited to continue both monthly live stream shows, the new Nathassia Devine Show & Goddess Is A DJ Live, every fortnight. It allows me to get closer to my fans despite lockdown. The Nathassia Devine Show is live from my house in London every second Saturday of the month at www.nathassia.live and Goddess Is A DJ Show from my TV studio is live every last Saturday of the month at www.goddessisadj.tv

Moodshift’s ascent continues with wistful ‘Touch’ video – Dancing Astronaut

Powered by a steady string of mixes and studio releases, Moodshift‘s 2020 rise was unrelenting. After a couple of remixes this year courtesy of Tobtok and MistaJam, the trio is keeping their momentum going with their newest single “Touch.” With vocals trending towards pop and bombastic elements shifting the sound towards club-ready house, “Touch” is an ode to the moments we’ve all been missing over the last year, as the group explains:

“We wrote Touch last summer and funny enough I don’t think we ever talked about the pandemic or how it affected us while writing the track. Not once did we discuss how social distancing was affecting us or how our normal way of life was completely turned upside down. Now looking back, it must’ve been in the back of our minds and just something we wrote subconsciously cause it’s so applicable to the situation we’re in. We really tried to capture that feeling in the music video. The crowds, the late nights, physical interactions, etc. – everything we desperately want now but can’t have. And that’s basically what the song is about, we don’t need nothing else. This track is our ode to the past and our excitement for the future. ‘All I [we] want is your Touch’”

Moodshift is the brainchild of Lucas Nord, Oliver Nelson, and flyckt, whose resumes include work with Tove Lo, Kygo, and Urban Cone, respectively. The “Touch” video is directed by Robin Kempe-Bergman, who was recently nominated for four Swedish Grammies in the “Best Video” category. For more insight into Moodshift’s inspirations, listen to their Dancing Astronaut exclusive mix from 2020.

Corey Taylor teases “massive” Slipknot news to come in the next month

Corey Taylor has teased some “massive” Slipknot news that he says will “probably” be revealed within the next month.

The band are currently looking to the future, with tour dates planned for this summer and talk of a follow-up to their 2019 album ‘We Are Not Your Kind’ possibly being readied for a release later this year.

Speaking to Kerrang! Radio this week, Taylor hinted that big news from the Slipknot camp is on the horizon.

“There’s some stuff brewing that I can’t talk about, but it’s massive,” he said (you can watch the full interview with Taylor below).

“I can say this: you will hear about it probably in the next month or so, let’s put it that way.”

Speaking about the likelihood of the band being able to carry out their touring plans in 2021 during the coronavirus pandemic, the frontman said: “Slipknot is booked to tour America end of September. We are booked to go out. And we haven’t heard anything yet that it’s different. And we talk to [concert promoter] Live Nation every week.

“We’re up to date on all of the different restrictions, not only in the [various U.S.] states, but federally. We’re obviously keeping an eye on everything and kind of going from there.”

Last week Taylor said that he was considering the possibility of writing a musical in the near future.

“I’ve been toying with the idea of writing a musical based around the people who I spent a large amount of my 20s with in Des Moines [Iowa] — like my crew, and how we all found each other, how the misfits came together and found each other, and we kind of saved each other,” he explained.

Las Vegas Is Beginning To Open Up — Could EDC Still Happen?

The global pandemic shuttered the vast majority, if not basically all music venues over the past 11 months. Besides independent venues, even towns like Las Vegas, which owes $58.8 billion in economic output and 391,300 jobs (41.1 percent of total employment) to tourism, have felt the crushing defeat of the lack of entertainment options.

Vegas has already begun to open up, but it’s taking another step on March 3 when, at least, MGM Resorts will have Mandalay Bay, Park MGM and The Mirage open seven days a week. Casino floor capacity will increase from 35% to 50% on March 15.

“Indoor dining at restaurants and bars are capped at 35% capacity – but outdoor dining has no capacity limit,” writes Reno Gazette. “Reservations are no longer required, and the number of patrons allowed at a table has jumped from 4 to 6.”

“As we begin to see positive signs around the public’s sentiment about traveling, coupled with important progress on the vaccination front and decreasing COVID-19 case numbers, bringing Mandalay Bay, Park MGM and The Mirage back to full-week operations is an important step for us,” Bill Hornbuckle, MGM Resorts’ CEO and president, said in a statement Wednesday. “We remain optimistic about Las Vegas’ recovery and our ability to bring employees back to work as business volumes allow us to do so.”

Caesars Palace’s OMNIA and MGM Grand’s Wet Republic are reopening in kind on March 5th. ARIA’s Liquid Pool Lounge will reopen a week later on March 12th.

So, does this give hope to Electric Daisy Carnival? Possibly, but not likely.

The differences between opening clubs and planning a full-scale festival are significant. The lineup usually comes out around this time in February, and sometimes even in March, so there is a chance. Though, this would assume that agents and managers were confident enough that it could happen in May to book their artists. If EDC were to plan for a fall event, the odds would be significantly higher. However, that brings up more questions as to whether they’d have another event in the regular May in 2022 or gradually roll it back earlier in the year over time to give themselves proper time to prepare for each event.

EDC Las Vegas 2021 sold out in August last year and dates for May 21-23 are still posted on their socials. If a lineup was to be shared, we’d be on the lookout for it in the next few weeks.

“I’m the 4th Haim sister”

Taylor Swift has jokingly declared that she is “the 4th Haim sister” following the release of her feature on the remix of Haim’s ‘Gasoline’.

The new version of the ‘Women in Music Pt. III’ song, which features Swift on vocals, was released yesterday (February 18) as part of the expanded version of Haim’s third studio album.

Celebrating the arrival of the new version of ‘Gasoline’, Swift shared a clip of Danielle Haim listening to the track on her Instagram Stories and declared her affection for the Haim sisters.

“Cancel the DNA test I’m the 4th Haim sister and this song is the only proof I need,” Swift wrote as the caption in regards to her work with the band on the new version of ‘Gasoline’, which you can hear below.

In a separate post, Haim spoke about how they approached Swift to collaborate on the new version of ‘Gasoline’.

“Since we released ‘Women in Music Pt. III’ in June, Taylor had always told us that ‘Gasoline’ was her favourite. so when we were thinking about ways to reimagine some of the tracks from the record, we immediately thought of her,” the band wrote.

“She brought such amazing ideas and new imagery to the song and truly gave it a new life. Thank you [Taylor Swift] for adding your incredible voice and spirit to a track that means so much to us.”

Haim and Swift previously teamed up for ‘no body, no crime’, a country murder ballad from Swift’s second album of 2020 ‘evermore’.

Opposites attract in CRAY’s ‘Roses R Red’ visual [Watch] – Dancing Astronaut CRAY – Roses R Red

Perfectly suited for the post-Valentine’s season comes CRAY‘s “Roses R Red” and an ultra eerie music video, in typical CRAY fashion.

Hinging the song on feelings of opposition to being in love, CRAY’s latest pairs an upbeat tone with lyricism that cuts deep. The video similarly pronounces the juxtaposition, showcasing CRAY dressed in all white as an angelic and elfish creature for the first half of the video before adding prosthetic horns, all black clothing, and even a blood-drenched human heart. Taking to Twitter to talk about the track, CRAY stated,

“I wrote this song because I think we are lied to a lot. We are made to feel certain ways that arnt always real. Love can be a fairytale and a nightmare. Don’t let anything or anyone tell you how to feel or that ur love isn’t worthy”

Out via Ultra Music, “Roses R Red” encapsulates CRAY’s opposites attract image, blending beauty and beastly in one harmonious delivery. Watch the music video below.
