Bicep share final single ahead of forthcoming ‘Isles’ LP, ‘Sundial’ – Dancing Astronaut

Just before their highly anticipated sophomore record drops on January 22 via Ninja Tune, Irish duo Bicep is sharing Isles‘ fourth single, “Sundial.” The album-preceding one-off is built around a typical Bicep power breakbeat and affective chord pattern, but “Sundial” differs from prior previews of Isles sound in that it is topped off by a vocal sample pulled from the Bollywood film Raja Rani.

In addition to “Sundial,” Isles‘ rollout also recently included two music videos, the first for “Apricots,” complete with a director’s commentary cut, and the second for the Clara La San-assisted “Saku.” On February 26, Bicep will perform their second global livestream set, which will include reworks of inclusions from their self-titled debut LP and new Isles tracks.

Foo Fighters announce new single ‘Waiting On A War’

Foo Fighters have announced their next single, ‘Waiting On A War’ – you can hear a preview of the new song below.

The track is the latest to be taken from the band’s upcoming tenth studio album ‘Medicine At Midnight’, which is set for release on February 5.

Posting on Twitter this afternoon (January 13), Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl shared some words about the wider meaning behind the track.

“As a child growing up in the suburbs of Washington DC, I was always afraid of war,” he wrote. “I had nightmares of missiles in the sky and soldiers in my backyard, most likely brought upon by the political tension of the early 1980’s and my proximity to the Nation’s Capitol.

“My youth was spent under the dark cloud of a hopeless future.”

He also previously told NME how the dreams came full circle after his daughter asked him if the U.S. was on the brink of nuclear war with North Korea.

“Last year, I was taking my daughter to school and it was around the time that the US and North Korea were ramping up tensions with each other and she had seen it on the news,” Grohl said.

“She just asked me ‘Dad, are we going to war’? It reminded me of how I felt when I was her age and I just thought, ‘What a fucking drag!’ How depressing is it that childhood could be robbed of that beauty and innocence by this dark feeling of dread. So that’s what ‘Waiting On a War Is About’.”

Foos have also previewed ‘Waiting On A War’ in a video clip which you can watch below. The song is set to be released tomorrow (January 14).

‘Waiting On A War’ follows on from the previously released ‘Medicine At Midnight’ tracks ‘Shame Shame’ and ‘No Son Of Mine’.

You can see the tracklist for ‘Medicine At Midnight’ below.

  1. Making A Fire’
  2. ‘Shame Shame’

  4. ‘Waiting On A War’
  5. ‘Medicine At Midnight’
  6. ‘No Son Of Mine’
  7. ‘Holding Poison’
  8. ‘Chasing Birds’

Foo Fighters are continuing to mark their 25th anniversary, with the band announcing this week that they have teamed up with Vans to release a special pair of shoes to mark the milestone.

Claud sings about yearning in new single, ‘Cuff Your Jeans’

Indie pop singer Claud has released a new single, ‘Cuff Your Jeans’, in the lead-up to the release of their debut album, ‘Super Monster’.

The new track stands in contrast with Claud’s previous releases, featuring pitched-down vocals from the singer which contribute to a gloomy feel, particularly around the chorus. A music video has also arrived alongside the track, created by Jeremy Reynoso and Angela Ricciardi.

Listen to ‘Cuff Your Jeans’ below:

“I wrote it after having a fever dream about trying to get on a train to see my friend but missing it over and over and over because there was always some obstacle in my way. The dream left me in a cold sweat and extremely frustrated,” Claud said in a statement.

“All elements of this song are a much-needed form of rebellion against my redundant lifestyle, and my pitched-down vocals in the verses – which appear in a few more places throughout ‘Super Monster’ – are a way to further a more courageous and outspoken persona.”

Claud will release ‘Super Monster’, on February 12 through Phoebe Bridgers’ new label, Saddest Factory, an imprint of Dead Oceans. ‘Cuff Your Jeans’ follows on from the other two singles released from the record so far, ‘Soft Spot’ and ‘Gold’.

The 21-year-old artist was recently included on the 2021 NME 100, which showcases the emerging artists expected to break out in 2021.

Sullivan King Reveals New Collaboration With Excision

Back in 2018, Excision released his fourth studio album, Apex. On it were two collaborations with Sullivan King, to date the only collaborations the producers have put out together.

That changes this year, as Sullivan King has just teased their third collaboration, tweeting out, “The vocals on this new song with @Excision are just” with three emotional emojis. (Is that redundant?) Their two previous works, “Wake Up” and “Fight Through The Pain,” painted two very different pictures of the artists with the former being a very melodic bass number and the latter coming through as an absolute banger.

We’re excited to hear what direction the two go in on this collaboration, so stay tuned for more info and possible teasers!
