GTA V Unveils Los Santos Music Locker w/ Moodyman, Keinemusik, Palms Trax + more

via press release

Rockstar Games continue to champion new underground music and culture with the latest Grand Theft Auto Online update, The Cayo Perico Heist.

Featuring an exotic, all-new location, The Cayo Perico Heist tasks 1-4 players with planning and executing an action-packed Heist on the heavily fortified Caribbean island of Cayo Perico, home to infamous drug lord El Rubio and his entire operation, setting the scene for the biggest update in the title’s seven-year history.

The Cayo Perico Heist also adds a brand-new underground nightclub and social space called the Music Locker, featuring in-game appearances and DJ sets from Detroit’s Moodymann, Berlin collective Keinemusik, and Palms Trax as the club’s residents.

The Music Locker is an exclusive underground dance club and social space located beneath the existing Diamond Casino & Resort. Players can hit the dancefloor and socialize the night away together to world-class resident DJs in the game’s latest immersive, real world nightclub experience. By giving players new ways to party and socialize in-game in authentic club environments, The Music Locker builds on ideas originally introduced in the GTA Online: After Hours update, which featured a player-owned Nightclub and appearances from The Blessed Madonna, Solomun, Dixon and Tale of Us as resident DJs and in-game characters.

Opening The Music Locker on week one is Detroit legend Moodymann, spinning motor city soul, techno and disco, ably supported by his backup dancers. Later in the season, Berlin collective Keinemusik will take clubbers on a journey from the sounds of open-air beach parties to the hottest nights in Europe, while Palms Trax is preparing to bring old-school house, exotic strains of disco and the latest from the UK underground to his Music Locker Residency later this month. The Music Locker also introduces new gameplay features including the ability to dance with a partner, as well as new dance moves for all players to show what they have on the dance floor.

Stay tuned for tons more music news from GTA Online in the coming days, including new radio stations, more new DJs and extra music for existing stations across the Los Santos airwaves in the city’s biggest musical update since launch!

Like all Grand Theft Auto Online updates, access to The Cayo Perico Heist is free with every copy of Grand Theft Auto V, and will be available December 15th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Charlotte de Witte Drops Techno Rework of Bob Moses and ZHU’s “Desire”

Back in July, Bob Moses teamed up with ZHU for the release of their dark, minimal track “Desire.” This atmosphere was expanded over the weekend when Charlotte de Witte added some of her haunting techno flair to the tune.

de Witte’s pounding drums are instantly recognizable and while she certainly raises the tempo from the original, she does well to maintain its eerie tone. In addition to cranking up the drums, the synths from the trio are emphasized in her remix with the addition of an acid-infused, wobbly bassline. Check out the new remix below.

Kid Cudi shares extensive tracklist, release date for highly anticipated final ‘Man on the Moon’ installment

It has been 11 years since Kid Cudi planted his flag on the moon. Now, the beloved Man on the Moon trilogy will officially come to an end on December 11 with Cudi’s highly anticipated final installment, Man on the Moon III: The Chosen.

Just ahead of the LP’s release, the Cleveland-native emcee shared the project’s extensive tracklist, artwork, and delivery date much to fans’ excitement. Following suit with the lengthier format set by its predecessors, 2009’s The End of Day and 2010’s follow up, The Legend of Mr. Rager, Kid Cudi’s final Man on the Moon entry will be presented in four acts across 18 tracks. Notably, the album doesn’t host much guest work, with Trippie Redd, Phoebe Bridgers, Skepta, and a posthumous appearance from Pop Smoke landing as the project’s only features.

Cudi’s first two Man on the Moon LPs are both widely considered to be genre classics now. Before the launch of the Man on the Moon trilogy in 2009, when Cudi was a far from the arts icon he is today, his debut mixtape, A Kid Named Cudi landed on a similarly unrecognized Brooklyn-based record label called Fool’s Gold Records. The mixtape made noise behind its standout single, “Day N Nite,” which would go on to jumpstart Cudi’s career. Now, Man on the Moon III: The Chosen finds Kid Cudi at a much different status than the lonely, misunderstood stoner he emerged on the scene as, and if history has taught us anything, its that we might have a future classic just around the corner. Watch the trailer for Man on the Moon III: The Chosen below.

Comisar Unveils Debut Album ‘Make Believe’

First making his debut in Colorado’s bass music scene back in 2018, Comisar has since gained recognition for collaborating with the likes of CloZee and releasing on Gravitas Records. On Make Believe, the brilliant Fort Collins based producer showcases his ingenuity across eleven highly innovative tracks. Comisar takes us on a multi-dimensional and kaleidoscopic journey into new realms of the sonic experience. Forward-thinking and creative, the aspiring producer draws from a myriad of musical influences including experimental hip-hop, glitch, and even jazz.

A two-year labor of love, Make Believe is a testament to Comisar’s creative artistry. From the serene “Inhale, Exhale” to the hyphy “Real to Us” to the beat driven “So Much,” he proves his keen abilities as a talented and prolific music producer with an aspiring future. Emotive and intricate, Make Believe demonstrates his musical range. Painting a tapestry of funk, deep groove, world music, hypnotic beats, and glitched out sounds, Comisar’s all original production delivers a unique, stand-alone flavor. To support his debut album release, Comisar recently opened for French glitch-hop goddess CloZee at the Mishawaka Amphitheatre in Bellvue, Colorado.

“The words ‘Make Believe’ mean a lot of different things to me. Using my imagination has always been an escape from reality and a catalyst for personal growth through creative expression. Over the past two years, I’ve slowly settled on a body of work that I feel is a good foundation for Comisar. Each of these songs has a different style, and I like to think that their variety paints a clearer picture of what’s creatively important to me. Accepting imperfections both in myself and my music has taught me to stop overthinking so much, and to trust my vision. Consider this album the launch pad into my musical universe. Much Love to you all for the support!”Comisar

Twenty One Pilots announce new ‘Trench’ Twitch emotes

Twenty One Pilots frontman Tyler Joseph is set to take part in a live-streamed charity Fortnite tournament on Twitch tomorrow (December 8).

Ahead of the event, the band have unveiled a new range of emotes on the livestreaming site, based on their fan-favourite mascot ‘Ned’.

Ned first appeared in the video for ‘Chlorine’ last year, from the band’s latest album ‘Trench, and also appeared in the band’s live shows.

“Ned is a very important person to us. He’s been a friend of ours for a while, we’re now just introducing him to the world and our fans have adopted him and made him their own,” Joseph explained in an interview. “That was really cool to see.

The emotes feature Ned in a number of festive outfits, including a Santa hat and reindeer antlers. They can be pre-ordered by fans who subscribe to the band’s Twitch channel ahead of the stream.

The three-hour long tournament, titled ‘Tyler’s Christmas Party’, will take place tomorrow from 6pm EST (11pm GMT), and is sponsored by fast food chain Chipotle.

Last month, meanwhile, Twenty One Pilots’ Josh Dun and Chainsmokers‘ Matt McGuire teamed up to perform a series of explosive drum covers.

In a 12-minute megamix video, the pair battled it out as they covered songs by Jay-Z, Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, Paramore, N.E.R.D. and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Meanwhile, in a bizarre mash up video, a YouTube user has mixed Taylor Swift‘s ‘Love Story’ with ‘Jump Suit’ – the lead single from Twenty One Pilots‘ 2018 album ‘Trench’.

Smith & Burrows share ‘Parliament Hill’ from second collaborative album

Andy Burrows and Editors‘ Tom Smith have announced their second collaborative album as Smith & Burrows.

‘Only Smith & Burrows Is Good Enough’ will come out on February 5, 2021 via PIAS, a decade after the pair’s Christmas-themed debut ‘Funny Looking Angels’.

Ahead of the release of the album, the pair have shared new track ‘Parliament Hill’. “It’s a beautiful song for now, when we’re all craving connection to people and places,” Smith said of the new song in a statement.

“It encapsulates a real, still moment and is my favourite song on the album.”

Listen to ‘Parliament Hill’ below:

Discussing the new album, Burrows called it “the most idyllic musical getaway I could have ever dreamed of,” with Smith adding: “I never thought this second album would not happen. It has its own force which is the power of our collaborative writing and voices.”

See the tracklisting and artwork for ‘Only Smith & Burrows Is Good Enough’ below:

1. ‘All The Best Moves’
2. ‘Buccaneer Rum Jum’
3. ‘Spaghetti’
4. ‘Old TV Shows’
5. ‘Parliament Hill’
6. ‘Bottle Tops’
7. ‘I Want You Back In My Life’
8. ‘Aimee Move On’
9. ‘Too Late’
10. ‘Straight Up Like A Mohican’

Last year, Editors released a new ‘best of’ album called ‘Black Gold’.

“To still be doing this is something I’m very proud of,” Smith said of the band’s fifteen-year career. “These days longevity might not be seen as cool, but I think it is. We’ve solidified what this new version of the band is, and I think the new songs show that the band are hungry.”

Burrows, meanwhile, released a collaborative album ‘Reasons To Stay Alive’ in 2019 with Matt Haig, author of the lauded book of the same name.

“Whether you’re a fan of Matt Haig or not, he really puts thoughts down and arranges them in a way that really makes sense,” Burrows told NME of his admiration for the author.
“These are thought patterns, processes and relationships laid out so beautifully. It was a dream to sit with those wodge of paper with his lyrics on, because I felt so close to all of them.”
