Eric Clapton will join forces with Van Morrison on a new song, the fourth track in the latter’s current series of anti-lockdown songs.
Morrison recently shared three anti-lockdown protest songs, in which he accused the government of being “fascist bullies”. ‘No More Lockdown’, ‘Born to Be Free’ and ‘As I Walked Out’ were written in opposition to the government’s coronavirus restrictions.
Now, he and Clapton have announced ‘Stand and Deliver’, a track written by Morrison and performed by Clapton that continues Morrison’s protests against lockdown. All proceeds from the song will go to Morrison’s Lockdown Financial Hardship Fund, which helps musicians facing financial insecurity as a result of the coronavirus crisis.
‘Stand and Deliver’ is set to be released on December 4. Announcing the song, Clapton said: “It is deeply upsetting to see how few gigs are going ahead because of the lockdown restrictions. There are many of us who support Van and his endeavours to save live music, he is an inspiration!

“We must stand up and be counted because we need to find a way out of this mess. The alternative is not worth thinking about. Live music might never recover.”
Morrison added: “Eric’s recording is fantastic and will clearly resonate with the many who share our frustrations. It is heart-breaking to see so many talented musicians lack any meaningful support from the government, but we want to reassure them that we are working hard every day to lobby for the return of live music, and to save our industry.”
Morrison’s recent comments about lockdown attracted criticism from Northern Ireland Health Minister Robin Swann, saying the country “expected better from him”.
“Van Morrison is going way beyond raising questions,” Swann said. “He is singing about ‘fascist bullies’ and claiming governments are deceiving people and wanting to ‘enslave’. It’s actually a smear on all those involved in the public health response to a virus that has taken lives on a massive scale.”
Morrison also recently criticised the “pseudo-science” of socially distanced gigs. “This is not a sign of compliance or acceptance of the current state of affairs,” he said of his recent run of socially distanced gigs. “This is to get my band up and running and out of the doldrums. This is also not the answer going forward. We need to be playing to full capacity audiences going forward.”
We’ve heard the old adage of turning water into wine, but what about turning your mom’s bathtub into a swimming pool? SM1LO and Rich DietZ are on a quest to redefine the expression with their new single, “Bentley Coupe.”
The track hits hard in both its production and in its comedic flair, flooring the gas pedal to create the ultimate feel-good bop with positive messaging during a time when we all need it most. “Bentley Coupe” is one of those songs that will stay stuck in your head long after it’s over, with punchy synths, booming bass, and roaring sirens. Behind the hilarious lyrics, which harken to transforming your “father’s truck into a Bentley Coupe,” is the optimistic outlook of believing in one’s dreams.
SM1LO, Rich DietZ
Rich DietZ shed some light on this ideal with EDM.com. “When SM1LO first passed us the keys to the record we knew we had to take this one for a spin,” they said. “‘Bentley Coupe’ is about the drive to turn your current situation into a whole new reality.”
“We made “Bentley Coupe” over the course of a few virtual studio sessions while cooped up in the house,” SM1LO continued. “We had an idea to create a tech house inspired track with a comedic and catchy top line about turning your mom’s bathtub into a pool and your dad’s pick up into a Bentley coupe. We thought the hook was somewhat outrageous, but at the same time relatable.”
South Florida/New Jersey-based duo Rich DietZ have continued to make a name for themselves in the tech house scene since 2019, when they unveiled their first commercial record “All My FriendZ.” The blossoming tandem has gone on to perform alongside EDM heavyweights such as REZZ, Madeon, and Elephante, among other renowned artists. They recently released remixes from Gab3z and Creature of their original tune “Bob Ross,” which was featured in Apple Music’s official “Breaking Dance” playlist.
New Jersey-based duo SM1LO burst onto the scene back in 2018 with a slew of energetic, bouncy electronic jams. They’ve gone on to receive support from Afrojack, Dash Berlin, Oliver Heldens, Morgan Page, Tiësto, and Wax Motif, among others.

After uniting under The Brothers Macklovitch umbrella in late May for the identity-instituting single “Give Love To Get Some,” A-Trak and Dave 1 have spent their time selectively cultivating their fledging catalog. To date, the familial production pair’s niche carving has yielded four releases: their May debut, September follow-up, “I Can Call You,” January spin on Raphael Saadiq’s “So Ready,” and most recently, an official remix of SG Lewis‘ “Feed The Fire.”
The Brothers Macklovitch’s deliberate, meticulous tactics extend to their revision of the times favorite, which manifests as A-Trak and Dave 1’s sophomore rework under the banner. An adroitly executed alteration that elegantly strips the dancier character of Lewis’ original, The Brothers Macklovitch version refurbishes it with a slinkier, lounge-suited ambiance. Horns add texture and a touch of class to a take that effortlessly clears a hurdle faced by all remixes: tastefully expanding the original without sacrificing any of its power.

King Princess has addressed Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion‘s ‘WAP‘, saying it’s “incredible” that women are reclaiming the sexual space traditionally occupied by male artists.
In this week’s Big Read interview with NME the musician (real name is Mikaela Straus) said she is fully behind such social shifts. “I think women talking about their glorious wet fucking pussies is incredible,” Straus said, citing ‘WAP’.
She continued: “How long have men being talking about their fucking huge dicks? All day [they talk] about how they’re gonna fucking pipe everybody in sight. That’s so normal. ‘My dick, my dick, my dick. My dick’s this, my dick’s gonna give it to you, my dick’s gonna…’ Duh!”

Straus explained that she has always “sexualised” herself, implying that she could only ever celebrate songs like ‘WAP’ (the song courted controversy when it was released earlier this year for its explicitly sexual lyrics). ”
“Rock’n’roll is about sex,” she said. “When you see somebody being raunchy, sexy and dirty and doing it of their own accord, it hits this point in some people that makes them feel uncomfortable, because it’s not the type of manicured sexuality we have been fed. I’ve always sexualised myself, and I don’t think very much about what men think about my sexuality; it doesn’t even occur to me. I don’t exist in a world, luckily, where I have to be like, ‘Can I show my titties today?’ I just do whatever the fuck I want. Nobody on my team is being like, ‘Hey – tone it down.’ Nobody would dare!”
Elsewhere in the interview the singer pressed on the importance of her music uniting straight and queer listeners. “I think my goal with my music is [for] the straightest motherfucker in the world and the gayest motherfucker [to sing] it at the same time, at the same concert.”
She explained that, even though she is genderqueer, she doesn’t think that permits her music to be labelled as such. “You don’t get to tell a group of artists – because of whatever they do in bed – that they should be in the same fuckin’ playlist. That doesn’t make any sense… I don’t want to be compared to gay people. I’ve said this before: ‘Put me in the ring with some straights and we’ll see what happens.’”

King Princess recently shared the single, ‘Pain’, which is her second track co-produced with Mark Ronson. Her second album – the follow-up to 2019’s ‘Cheap Queen’ – is currently being worked on, but no release date has been set.
After embarking on her singer-songwriter career at the age of just 15, London-born artist Tiggi Hawke has evolved past her softly resonating melodic roots into a breakout creator. Today, her sound revolves around intensely personal lyrics and creative blends of pop and electronic music, best demonstrated by her deep house-inspired June release, “Electric Sun.
With her most recent track, “High Season,” released on November 27th, Hawke continues in the electronic-centric style of “Electric Sun.” This time, however, she dives into the depths of bass music. Hawke’s sugary sweet vocals draw a sharp, compelling contrast to the single’s heavy, intensity-building downbeats and explosive drops. The blossoming Hawke described “High Season” best, calling it “a crazy vortex of double meanings” in a press release.
Check out the track below, which arrives by way of Armada Music.
“This single is a personal one. It’s about staying ‘high’ emotionally, something I openly struggle with, and that weirdly trippy/euphoric feeling when it actually does happen,” Hawke continued. “It feels very liberating (and slightly scary!) to be so open emotionally and lyrically in this song and to share that almost out-of-body experience which I find myself looking for.”
