Hot Since 82 Shares First Preview of Upcoming Debut Full-Length Album, “Recovery”

With a brand new album on the way, Hot Since 82 is not cooling down any time soon.

After the renowned house music producer announced his upcoming Recovery LP earlier this summer, he has finally offered fans a taste of honey before dropping the hive. Hot Since 82 took to social media to share a preview of the album’s opening track “Nightfall,” a hypnotic deep house number featuring Temple.

In his announcement, Hot Since 82 noted that Recovery was inspired by a desire for positivity during chaotic times. “Here’s a taste of the opening track from my new album,” he wrote in a Facebook post. “Amongst all the chaos this year, I’ve managed to channel some positivity and I’m delighted to announce that my first full length studio album ‘Recovery’ will be released on 27th November!”

Alison Wonderland and Valentino Khan band together on ‘Anything’

Alison Wonderland and Valentino Khan have finally indulged fans with their Mad Decent-hosted debut collaboration, “Anything.” The dance music all-stars signaled to fans that a co-project was coming when they dressed up as each other for Halloween 2020, and now, after much ado, Wonderland and Khan are circling the release ring arm in arm.

The 120 BPM superlative begins with airy and percussive impressions that are later joined by Wonderland’s soft yet moody vocals. As the track pushes forth, the tempo picks up, instating a four-on-the-floor beat divergent from the trap stylizations associated with the two acts. Although Khan’s 2018 remix of Wonderland’s festival favorite “Good Enough” provided an initial taste of the crossover endeavor, “Anything” affirms that it was certainly high-time for a newer, more formal notch in the best friends’ collaborative belt.

rebelyay – Danger On My Mind

‘Danger On My Mind’ is the newest release from New York based artist, rebelyay. The elusive producer impresses with his brand of stark, glitchy Hyper-pop. There are hints of experimental pop pioneers in the mix such as Sophie and Flume, though rebelyay feels more a contemporary than a follower – and a welcome addition to the fold at that. The trippy sound production is truly next level, as is the accompanying visual to go along with it. In his own words, the track quite simply follows “the entirety of an acid trip.” The movement is off kilter but kept to the rhythm of a beating heart. The bass constantly shifts through octaves like the crazy ups and downs that you may hit throughout your trip. And, finally, it all breaks and comes back to the place where you started. Only this time, something feels different. Check out a quote from him below and under that watch the video for “Danger On My Mind”, it’s beautifully unique.

“The title “Danger On My Mind” represents my thoughts during trips and how I’ve faced past traumas that came up a lot during trips that I’ve had. But through that I’ve had some “divine intervention” and a lot has changed from those experiences.”

New invention beams music directly into your head, no need for headphones

A new device has been invented that can beam music into your head without any need for headphones.

As reported by the Associated Press, Noveto Systems has invented a device called a ‘SoundBeamer’ which reportedly works by creating a “sound bubble” for the user with music from an album, movie or video game.

The device filters in natural sound around the user meaning listeners experience surround sound without the need for headphones.

To make the technology work, the device uses a 3D “sensing module” to both locate and track the position of the user’s ear. It then sends audio to the ear via ultrasonic waves which build “sound pockets” next to the person’s ears. Nobody around can hear the music either – only the user.

You can see a video demonstrating the technology below:

Product manager Ayana Wallwater told Associated Press: “You don’t believe it because it sounds like a speaker, but no one else can hear it. It’s supporting you and you’re in the middle of everything. It’s happening around you.

She added: “You don’t need to tell the device where you are. It’s not streaming to one exact place. It follows you wherever you go. This is what we dream of: A world where we get the sound you want.

You don’t need to disturb others and others don’t get disturbed by your sound. But you can still interact with them.”

The product makers are anticipating that the Soundbeamer 1.0 ready will be ready for consumer release by December 2021.

Back in July, Elon Music said headphones could be a thing of the past in the near future, with a brain chip being able to stream music directly into our brains.

Musk is reportedly working on the technology, called ‘Neuralink’, which would see tiny wires – thinner than human hair – placed in the brain which would have the ability to carry sound waves into the brain.

“Lovefool” emerged as a global smash when it was first released earlier this year. DROELOE usher in the end of an era with ‘A Matter Of Perspective’ – Dancing Astronaut

A Matter Of Perspective isn’t just any DROELOE original. The anthology LP, an amalgamation of DROELOE’s three prior EPs and seven new songs, turns the page in the DROELOE history book to open a new chapter, one that will notably begin without the outfit’s original member and visual artist, Hein Hammers. Hammers’ transition out of DROELOE will leave the sonic reigns resting solely in the hands of Vincent Rooijers, but not without a proper sendoff.

Representative of Hammers and Rooijers progression under the DROELOE umbrella, A Matter Of Perspective looks back to look forward. The staggering 29-song collection of familiar and fresh DROELOE originals harkens back to singles like “OATH,” of DROELOE’s 2019 EP, A Promise Is Made, while putting forth various “Reimagined” versions of existing tracks. Listeners got a taste of this “reimagined” subseries with “Sunburn (Reimagined)” in September and “Virtual Friends (Reimagined)” in February.

The DROELOE activity won’t stop with A Matter Of Perspective; fans will soon have the opportunity to take a museum-like guided audiovisual tour in Discord as part of a virtual release experience that the duo has crafted. There will be three digital rooms, one for each of the three EPs embodied on A Matter Of Perspective.

The guided tour will be narrated by Rooijers, from whom visitors will learn more about the context for each EP and its inclusions. Fans will also have access to a gift shop, where they can purchase exclusive, anthology-specific merchandise and more. More information on this virtual experience is forthcoming. A Matter Of Perspective it out now via bitbird; stream below.

Watch Thundercat perform ‘Them Changes’ with Ariana Grande for Adult Swim

Thundercat and Ariana Grande teamed up for a performance of the former’s 2015 hit ‘Them Changes’ during the first day of the Adult Swim Music Festival.

The pair performed with Thundercat’s band against a background of typical Adult Swim animation, with Grande singing backing vocals and the whole second verse. They see each other off at the end of the song with a COVID-safe foot tap.

Grande covered the song back in 2018 for a BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge session, calling it her “favourite song of the past year and a half”. In a new press statement, Thundercat noted their connection: “It feels like Ariana and I are forever connected through Mac [Miller], and this is part of the healing process.”

Watch the unlikely performance below.

Grande recently released her sixth studio album, ‘Positions’. In a three-star review, NME wrote that “as an introduction to the next era of Grande’s career, it’s solid, but you can’t help but feel it’s missing some of her trademark sparkle”.

Thundercat released his latest album, ‘It Is What It Is’, in February. In a four-star review of that record, NME described it as a “heavy rumination on life, death and healing”.

In August, the bassist revealed he recorded a whole album with his late friend, rapper and collaborator Mac Miller, but said “everything isn’t meant to be put out like that”.

Damn the Pan(demic)! Save the Portal! D&B/Bass Portal to Put on a Massive, Weekend-Long Livestream

If you’ve been lucky enough to catch a live stream or very high-quality live set from a festival or show in Europe and the UK in recent years, chances are D&B or Bass Portal are behind it. The Prague-based film and stream crew regularly film some of the largest festivals in the world, including Let It Roll, Imagination Festival, Beats for Love and the too-cool-for-most-of-us Darkshire. D&B and Bass Portal also stream from their own studios and premiere new tracks from the likes of Audio, Counterstrike and Teddy Killerz, just to name a few.

Before the COVID pandemic, the Portals were also expanding into multi-genre raves and building their studio streams more and more. Predictably, however, since the live festival and entertainment industry has all but vanished in a matter of months, businesses like D&B/Bass Portal are also in danger. These cheeky Czechs have soldiered on during the pandemic with even more live studio streams in an attempt to keep quarantined music fans entertained, but maintenance costs a fleet of filming and streaming equipment and man hours creating, editing and producing the streams seem to be piling up and the Portal is in very real danger of closing until further notice.

D&B Portal set up a HitHit (similar to GoFundMe) campaign and reached out to fans for donations two weeks ago, but being one of the best streaming channels in the world, they also decided to do a livestream telethon this weekend, November 14-15 from 11am to 11pm (CET) each day. That’s 24 hours of bass, people, and because it’s such a long set, no matter where you are in the world, it’s likely you’ll be able to catch some of it. Tomorrow’s stream will be a D&B focus and feature 12 of Czechia’s D&B and neurofunk rising stars. Sunday will be multi-genre, with 12 more artists pumping our bass-heavy sets. The event will stream on D&B/Bass Portal’s YouTube and Twitch channel, more details below.

To donate directly to D&B and Bass portal any time, fans can click here. Each donation tier comes with prizes including D&B Portal hoodies, t-shirts, signed vinyl copies from the likes of Alix Perez (sold out) and NickBee and even the opportunity to have your own DJ set streamed on the Portals. It’s a true telethon, and let’s faces it: much better gifts than PBS. So tune in tomorrow, give if you can, share the event and #SaveThePortal!
