Ilan Bluestone reunites with Gid Sedgwick for trance anthem, ‘Paid For Love’ – Dancing Astronaut

In continuation of his “tronce” movement, Ilan Bluestone has returned to Anjunabeats with another vocal-powered weapon. Enlisting collaborator Gid Sedgwick, the UK producer unveils the latest heavy-hitting track from his arsenal, “Paid For Love.” Making its first appearance during Above & Beyond‘s milestone Group Therapy 400 live stream in September, the melodic number sees Bluestone journey back to the anthemic roots that raised him.

Characterized by thundering kicks and static-inducing bass, “Paid For Love” traverses contrasting elements of industrial sonics and heartfelt thematics. Sedgwick, previously featured on Bluestone-Maor Levi crossover staple “Can You,” takes a sophisticated vocal approach as he employs Depeche Mode influences in his performance.

Marking the first track where Bluestone saw involvement in the lyrical output, “Paid For Love” also held personal meaning for Anjuna mainstay, who stated,

“‘Paid For Love’ is the first track I’ve written where I’ve had a hand in writing the lyrics. The song is about a personal experience I had in a relationship, and I feel like these lyrics speak to people who may have gone through similar experiences. I’ve felt such a strong connection with fans at my shows when they’ve been singing the words back to me. I wanted a vocal in the style of Depeche Mode, and Gid delivered!”

Forester Releases ‘Falling Fire’

LA-based indie electronic duo Forester might be somewhat new to the scene but their music reflects an artistic maturity that belies their years. The boys are back with “Falling Fire” via Kygo’s Palm Tree Records, a euphoric, feel-good jam that we hear as a “must add” for playlists everywhere. Their music blends acoustic instrumentation with electronic elements that create a state of warmth for the listener.

“Falling Fire is written about those moments when the world feels like it’s crashing and burning. Although they may feel hollow, these times provide the most opportunity for growth and personal insight.

While writing this song, we tried to tap into our emotions in down times to create a vulnerable, yet hopeful, piece of music.” – Forester

Kylie Minogue becomes first female artist to top UK albums chart in five consecutive decades

Kylie Minogue has become the first female artist to top the UK albums chart in five consecutive decades.

She broke the record with the release of her new studio album ‘Disco’, released last Friday (November 6) and entered the Official Charts at Number One. The album also had the biggest opening week sales of any 2020 release in the UK so far, selling 55,000 units across streaming, CD, vinyl, downloads and a retro cassette edition.

Minogue shared the news of her achievement in a video posted to social media today (November 14), saying “I’m lost for words”.

“Thank you to everyone who’s supported this album and this campaign. It means the world to me and I’m so touched that it’s found it’s way to your hearts,” she said.

Minogue’s first chart-topping release was her self-titled debut in 1988, followed by ‘Enjoy Yourself’ a year later. In 1992 her ‘Greatest Hits’ also landed at Number One, as well as 2001’s ‘Fever’, 2010’s ‘Aphrodite’, 2018’s ‘Golden’ and 2019’s ‘Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection’.

With eight Number One albums under her belt, she has now overtaken Elton John and George Michael in the all-time charts leaderboard.

It also makes her one of five other artists to ever share this achievement, alongside Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Paul Weller and Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour.

Minogue gave fans their first taste of ‘Disco’ back in July with the single ‘Say Something’, which was later accompanied by a galactic inspired film clip.

She followed up with cuts ‘Magic’ and ‘I Love It’ before releasing the album earlier this month.

NME gave the record four stars in a review, calling it “her most consistent and enjoyable album in a decade”.

“…this album succeeds because it feels like Kylie doing disco in her own cute way: measured, affectionate and sincere, not an exercise in tongue-in-cheek pastiche,” NME said.

Late last month, DROELOE detailed through endearing letters to each other that founding member Hein Hamers would be departing the project after five years to pursue something new. However, the pair weren’t planning to let things end there, as they’ve released their phenomenal anthology album A Matter Of Perspective via bitbird

A Matter Of Perspective will be remembered as DROELOE’s most complex and refined work as a duo. Not only have they written seven new tunes for fans to relish, but they’ve compiled their previous three EPs into one comprehensive album. Their unmistakable, joyful-yet-melancholic sound spearheads the endeavor, making the album feel like a goodbye and a new beginning all at once.

Metallica are “in a very healthy place” after James Hetfield’s rehab stint

Metallica are “in a very healthy place” following James Hetfield’s stint in rehab, drummer Lars Ulrich has said.

The frontman began new treatment to tackle addiction issues late last year. He had previously been to rehab in 2001 for the same problem.

Speaking in the latest issue of the band’s fan club magazine So What!, Ulrich discussed learning his bandmate was heading back to rehab and how the band were handling Hetfield’s needs going forward.

Ulrich said he first heard the frontman “had some issues” in September 2019 “and that he had to go and deal with that”. “Nobody at that time really knows what that means,” he said. “You know, what does it mean for him, what does it mean for us, what does it mean for scheduling, all that shit.

“You just kind of sit there, and obviously your first thoughts are, ‘Is he OK? What’s going on?’ Then the Australian dates got moved. Then there was the ‘Helping Hands’ concert that got moved, so on and so forth. And you start understanding more.”

The drummer noted that having been together for so long meant the band “love each other, we believe in each other”. “We have each other’s backs,” he explained. “We will fight for each other. And we sort of roll with it.”

Speaking of the state of the band now, he added: “James is in a very healthy place, the band is in a very healthy place, and obviously COVID has played a major role in all of it. It’s been a mindfuck of a year; I’m sitting here on October 16th, I feel confident and excited about the state of the Metallica nation, and I feel very optimistic about what’s ahead.

“I think we’re better at [handling things] now than we were ten years ago, 10 years ago we were better at it than we were 10 years before. So it’s all just part of the path forward.”

Meanwhile, the drummer said earlier this week he didn’t expect arena shows to return for a year “at the earliest” due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
