SADRN Debuts On Hex Cougar’s Label with Inspiring Single “Feel Alright” [LISTEN]

SADRN‘s new release “Feel Alright” is a prime example of creating your own reality and making your dreams come true.

The Detroit-based producer was locked up toward the start of quarantine (a mood we can all relate to) when he began writing this song. Flash-forward to now, as he finds himself on Hex Cougar’s label, Alter/Ego.

SADRN’s signature style is laced with pure emotion as the producer vows to inspire through music that shares “all of the love between beauty and evil.” We’ll let him take the story from here…

I wrote this song on day 2 of lockdown. With being totally unsure of what the world might hold for us tomorrow, I knew I would have a large window of time on my hands to create for the greater good. I also felt like sadrn needed a change so I began to sing and song write knowing and feeling that I had it in me to heal through my words and voice. I saw a tweet from hex expressing how he wanted to have a deeper impact on the community during this time so I sent him “feel alright” and he helped me finish structuring it to get it out to the world, sharing with me that this is the exact kind of beautiful subtle sound he’s looking to have on the collective.

Whether “Feel Alright” is a story of being in the right place at the right time, sheer coincidence, or some other divine alternative, we have no idea — but this exchange between two artists is simply beautiful and we love to hear it.

Listen below, link up with SADRN, and check out Hex Cougar’s label Alter/Ego.

What a night for the Circus Records family.

Each artist pulled out all the stops for their set in what was an emotional night. Standout performances included Flux Pavilion and Feed Me, who cycled through a centrifuge of Circus classics as well as tracks from their own venerated discographies. Yaman & Robbie Rosen – Just Friends – Dancing Astronaut

The first collaboration between Asian talent Yaman and singer/songwriter Robbie Rosen lands squarely in the dance-pop arena. “Just Friends” is an infectious record that brings together the best of both their talents. Yaman’s razor sharp production brings in energetic drops and melodic touches that stray a bit from his past releases. Robbie Rosen complements Yaman’s updated style with timeless, pop first songwriting. Although it was only their first time working together, the pair strike a natural balance in the mix. Rosen’s stellar vocal performance is buoyed by Yaman’s bass-driven and quirky climax for a fun and fresh collision of competing styles that work seamlessly here. Whatever genre you attempt to place it in, “Just Friends” is certainly not formulaic.

Cardi B apologises following backlash to Hindu goddess photoshoot

Cardi B has issued an apology after being accused of “disrespecting” Hindu culture in a recent photoshoot.

The ‘WAP’ rapper recently appeared on the cover of Footwear News magazine following the announcement of her new Reebok range, which is set to launch tomorrow (November 13).

  • READ MORE: The good, the bad and the Biffy: the five most, erm, interesting ‘WAP’ covers

In the image, Cardi is seen to be taking on the aesthetic of the Hindu goddess Durga and was said to be “paying homage” to the religious figure. However, the star has since received a significant online backlash, with many accusing her of cultural appropriation.

Cardi has now issued a video statement via social media to apologise, saying it “was not my intent” to cause any offence with the image, while promising to “do more research” in the future.

“When I did the Reebok shoot, the creatives told me I was going to represent a Goddess; that she represents strength, femininity and liberation, and that’s something I love and I’m all about,” Cardi said.

“And though it was dope, if people think I’m offending their culture or their religion I want to say I’m sorry. That was not my intent. I do not like disrespecting nobody’s religion. I wouldn’t like people to offend my religion.”

She continued: “I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful; maybe I should have done my research. I’m sorry, I can’t change the past, but I will do more research for the future.”

You can watch the video in the above tweets.

In a statement issued to People, Footwear News said: “Yesterday we posted content from our exclusive Cardi B cover shoot. One of the images was intended to pay homage to Hindu goddess Durga, and our intent was to show a powerful woman.

“However, we realise we were not considerate of certain cultural and religious perspectives and how this could be perceived as deeply offensive. Today, we’re releasing another cover from the shoot that was a subscriber exclusive.”

See the Footwear News cover along with various reactions below.

Last month, Cardi faced a barrage of online criticism after promoting a virtual Armenia fundraiser on social media. Apologising for the controversial post, the rapper said: “My wish is, since I did a little bit of research today – ’cause you guys left me so much comments – my wish is that both the countries [Azerbaijan and Armenia] would just be at peace.”

Cardi B is among the many musicians to have expressed their relief over Joe Biden winning the US presidential election over Donald Trump. Upon the result coming in over the weekend (November 7), she told fans that “God put Joe Biden in place” because “Trump supporters were getting out of line”.

Amon Tobin & Noisia’s Thys Announce EP & Release ‘Departure’ [LISTEN]

Production wizard Amon Tobin has again teamed up with Dutch composer and producer Thijs de Vlieger (aka Thys) of Noisia, with their cinematic Ithaca EP due to drop on November 20. The fractal five-track offering is an odyssey into the unknown, carefully constructed, intricately layered and arranged with purity of intent. Its expansive, textural soundscapes capture the best of both worlds – glacial majesty and a complex drone substratum that resonates deeply. Ithaca follows the pair’s beautiful Ghostcards EP, which was released back in April. Thys had this to say on first offering ‘Departure:’

“‘Ithaca’ is a five track EP structured around a 20 year voyage, and ‘Departure’ is the first track on the EP that sets off the journey. The EP was written in multiple sessions in San Francisco and LA over a time span of eight years. It is quite dark in tone, but I think it also shows clearly that we had a lot of fun writing this material, obsessing over sounds, melodies and mixing synthetic, organic, orchestral and vocal textures (mostly our own vocals!)”

Written at Amon’s studio in LA and finished and mastered at Thijs’ studio in Groningen, ‘Ithaca’ is an unnerving feast for the ears with a distinct curative vibe. A thought-provoking collection of tracks that ebb and flow with intention and force, the pairs discreet use of textural elements coalesce to sustain a deeply introspective and nostalgic mood. It makes for a wholly immersive and atmospheric experience, delivered by two artists at the top of their creative game.

Listen to the first track, “Departure,” below.

System Of A Down raise over $600,000 in donations to the Armenia Fund

System Of A Down have raised over $600,000 (£454,000) for the Armenia Fund through the two new songs they released last week.

The four-piece announced their return last week with ‘Protect The Land’ and ‘Genocidal Humanoidz’, their first new material in 15 years, to raise money for the Armenia Fund following the recent conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the disputed region of Artsakh.

In a new full band interview titled ‘Speaking Out For Artsakh’, all four members of SOAD —  Serj Tankian, Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian and John Dolmayan — sat down to explain why they released the songs in support of their ancestral home of Armenia and its neighbouring Artsakh.

Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia signed an agreement earlier this week to end the military conflict which broke out back in September between Armenia and Azerbaijan (who have been backed by Turkey) over Nagorno-Karabakh, a disputed region with a large ethnic Armenian population that Armenians refer to as Artsakh.

In the interview, Dolmayan said that what SOAD are hoping is “that what happened in 1915 [the Armenian Genocide] and what’s happened so many times in history doesn’t repeat itself”.

Tankian said that the conflict was “an injustice that we want people to pay attention to, and that’s why we’re doing this [releasing the songs]. So that they can, in turn, inform their own government bodies, who can respond properly.”

Speaking about why SOAD decided to end a 15-year wait for new music, the frontman said: “As System Of A Down, this has been an incredible occasion for us to come together, and put everything aside and speak out for our nation, as one.”

In a statement released with ‘Speaking Out For Artsakh’, SOAD said: “We are overwhelmed with gratitude for your incredible support of our campaign for the people of Artsakh, and for helping us raise over $600K so far in donations to provide for those in dire need via the Armenia Fund.

“Because of you, we will be able to help displaced civilians, young and old, who are affected by the hideous war crimes inflicted upon Artsakh by Azerbaijan and Turkey. Please watch this full interview to get a more intimate look and understanding into why we came together to release ‘Protect The Land’ and ‘Genocidal Humanoidz’.

“To the four of us, it’s extremely important to share these truths with you. It is for our ancestors, our culture, and our nation. Help us spread the message.”

This rare full band interview also marks the first time that Tankian and Dolmayan have appeared on camera together since the two began voicing their contrasting US political views earlier this year.

Dolmayan, who is a vocal supporter of Donald Trump, claimed on social media earlier this week that the US election is “not over” until an investigation into unproven allegations of voter fraud has been conducted.

Last month, Tankian admitted it was frustrating being “politically opposite” to Dolmayan, though he clarified that the two were on “the exact same page” when it came to issues relating to Armenia.

Dillon Francis Drops Empowering New Single “Be Somebody” With Evie Irie

Dillon Francis is here to represent all those who have ever felt ostracized due to their ambitions. To do so, he’s joined forces with rising songstress Evie Irie to unveil their new anthem “Be Somebody,” out now via Casablanca Records. Together they’ve created the perfect track to rage-sing your heart out to.

Francis shared in a press release the inspiration behind the track, stating that it is “an ode to all the people that told me I was just a class clown and wasn’t gonna make it.” Well, the jokes on everyone else because he’s definitely made it. To deliver the punchy message, he lays out a spirited soundscape filled with airy guitars and soaring synths. The production works seamlessly with Irie’s empowering vocals, which sound like a blend of Dua Lipa and Lorde
