Getter Drops Unhinged ‘NAPALM’ EP [MUST LISTEN]


Getter‘s sound evolves once again with his NAPALM EP.

The producer wastes absolutely no time with explosive, creative energy out the gates as the EP starts off with the steady, eerie resonance of “ENTOMBMENT” and straight into the producer’s newly released “BAD ACID” trip.

The audible equivalent of drinking bleach, “CLOROX,” steps up to the plate with a soundscape reminiscent of “Inhalant Abuse,” right into “ADHD” and previously released “REPRESENT,” the two heaviest tracks on the EP. “HOLE IN THE BOAT” ends it on a light, upbeat note, contrasting the entire EP in a pleasant sense.

Getter revealed to Forbes:

Usually with electronic music, when you make songs, for the most part, you’re thinking in the back of your head that you need to make it to play out at shows. But since there’s no shows now, I kind of took that part of the thought process and threw it away. So I was just like, ‘what’s the craziest s**t that I can make that people just want to hear?’

It seems Getter has demolished any and all expectations by allowing his unhinged artistry to completely take over. As always, we love hearing where his head is at. Listen here!

New Artist Spotlight: Paper Idol Makes a Statement With His Future-Forward Sound

Although Paper Idol may not be a household name yet, he’s a rising talent that needs to be on everyone’s radar. In just two short years, the multifaceted Los Angeles-based artist has released a handful of excellent singles that have touched down on familiar labels like Lowly and Spinnin’ Records. Today, he has returned with his latest track “Clouds,” out via CloudKid. 

“Clouds” embodies Paper Idol’s feel-good attitude by hooking listeners with a groovy guitar riff and his smooth vocals. Though the build-up mellows the track out for a moment, the drop reels listeners back in with fluttering, raindrop-like plucks and a thick low end. “Clouds” feels like an extension of his previous releases, taking his funky sound design and expanding it into a potent weapon.

Netsky returns to Hospital Records with four studio album, ‘Second Nature’

Ten years ago, newcomer Netsky had just locked in his first record deal with the prestigious Hospital Records. Fast forward to the present, the drum ‘n’ bass household name has made an esteemed return to his first label with fourth LP, Second Nature. Delivering his first album in four years, Netsky brings back his coveted liquid style in renewed light with an extensive 18-track run.

Tapping Sub Focus, Rudimental, Hybrid Minds, Darren Styles, and more, Netsky cultivates emotive productions through a range of dance music sonics. Tracks like “Destiny” and “I See The Future In Your Eyes” point to more anthemic drum ‘n’ bass while “Mixed Emotions” and “Free” take on the Belgian producer’s signature sound. Although the record sees him revisit his roots, Second Nature lacks no diversification—with hip-hop hybrid taking precedent in “Blend,” hard-style influences pervading “Look At Me Go,” and disco energy in “Don’t Care What People Say.”

Aluna Curates All Black, POC, Female Lineup for Virtual “Rodeo Rave” Festival


Early this summer, Aluna took a stand by sharing her experiences with racism within the EDM community and the music industry at large. She later penned an open letter to initiate a shift in the field, calling for efforts to support Black artists and make the future of dance music more inclusive.

The esteemed artist isn’t waiting idly for the system to change and is instead using her own platform to curate an all Black, POC, and female virtual electronic festival dubbed “Aluna & Friends: Rodeo Rave.”

Zeds Dead, DNMO, and GG Magree‘s super collaboration, “Save My Grave,” has been gifted a visual. Inspired by the game Grim Fandango, the video explores the life and death cycle, adding a sense of gravity to the visual accompaniment. Trippy visuals thread the production, and lighting adjustments help to define the mood of the different scenes as the video’s narrative develops.

Taking cues from Grim Fandango, the visual for “Save My Grave” is deeply invested in worldbuilding, with an emphasis on creating an alternate reality akin to what one might find in a video game. The offbeat accent to the holy trinity’s single is out now via Deadbeats, the action accessible below.

MYRNE Explores Self-Discovery on 7-Track “Wandering” EP

MYRNE‘s stint in dance music has been a rather successful one, jumping into the scene in 2015 as the first Asian artist to release on Mad Decent. Since, his passionate releases have landed him on labels such as Monstercat, Universal, Ultra, and many more. Today, he has returned with his comprehensive Wandering EP.

MYRNE’s Wandering EP is a dreamy collection of indie-electronic tunes that are inspired by “nature and day-to-day existence,” according to a press release. The Singaporean producer goes on to explain that “it feels very liberating writing music spontaneously without conscious planning.” His carefree approach is effortlessly mimicked on the EP, as each song seems to be rooted in a relaxed, airy feel.

South Korean born producer LILO came onto the scene over this last summer with his debut cover of Kylie Minogue’s ‘C​an’t Get You Out Of My Head​.’ The house anthem garnered over half a million streams in less than a couple months. When an artist ventures out of their customary format, a win is not guaranteed, unless, that is, you go by the name “Alesso.” The Swede has crossed the pop-dance frontier with more than a few high-caliber outings in the past, and now, Alesso is flashing that capability yet again. Partnering up with Charlotte Lawrence, Alesso heads toward “THE END” on his and Lawrence’s new linkup.

“THE END” acts as Alesso’s sophomore go-around on the crossover carousel in just this year’s time, serving as a successor to “Midnight” with Liam Payne. Linking Lawrence’s divine vocal backing with Alesso’s hallmark production standard, the duo’s liaison provides a wave of refreshing tropical warmth as 2020 turns the corner to its cooler months. For those who may gripe about the lack of progressive on Alesso’s latest, it should be stated that the Swedish vanguard has had no deficit of quality house numbers throughout the past year-plus timespan, with more potentially still in the pipeline.
