Little Rain & HILLA Release Heartfelt Single “Drifting Away” via Tipsy Records

In these busy times, no one would deny the appeal of the sometimes-fleeting idea of chilling with your significant other by the ocean and drifting away together without a care in the world.  New South Korean producer/remixer Little Rain  who has already caught the attention of none other than Austin Kramer for his editorial “Friday Cratediggers”  arrives armed with bright synths and melodies to capture those moments for his fourth single and Tipsy Records debut, “Drifting Away”.  The track features heartfelt vocal and lyrics by German singer HILLA, following her recent work with producers Wave Wave and Aexcit which have garnered close to 10 million streams.

About Little Rain:

Though he keeps a low profile online, Little Rain is the performing name for 19-year-old Yuchan Kim, who has attracted attention with his signature chill and deep sound.  Besides his singles “Freak In Me”, “Pieces”, and “Ocean”, Little Rain has also remixed “Photograph” by Ed Sheeran and “i’m so tired…” by Lauv and Troye Sivan, which can be found on YouTube.

About HILLA:

HILLA is an accomplished, award-winning singer, songwriter, and topliner from Germany.  She originally studied to be a teacher of English and Music but opted to join the songwriting and production team Intertones instead.  She records both German and English pop and dance music, with a sound that she describes as “swing[ing] between melancholy and soulfulness linked to a little bit of self-irony”.  It was, in fact, Little Rain who wanted to collaborate with HILLA after hearing her release with Wave Wave called “Into The Sea”.  She also recently partnered with Aexcit for a dance cover of the King Harvest 70’s classic “Dancing In The Moonlight”.

“Drifting Away” is another remarkable, quality release for Tipsy Records. The label has now achieved over 65 million streams just on Spotify with tracks from its four-year catalog of breaking talent such as Alex Parker, Famba, bvdkult, Frank Pierce, MKJ, Nick Peters, Toniia, Flyboy, Giiants, Boye & Sigvardt, Dunisco and Toniia. The label has a highly tuned ear for its own brand of discovery in both underground and mainstream hits, licensing to labels including Epic Oslo and Parlophone France, amongst others. Tipsy is currently flourishing in partnership with Florida based Symphonic Distribution.

Watch a Laser-Eyed WHIPPED CREAM Wreak Havoc in “DUMB SH!T” Music Video

Vancouver-based rising star WHIPPED CREAM has been generating buzz lately with her unique blend of hip-hop elements within her productions. Her latest effort, “DUMB SH!T (feat. Jasiah)” is a trappy modern rap banger, and today, the track’s music video was released.

The video opens with WHIPPED CREAM emerging from a spaceship to wow Jasiah and his crew, who are hanging out in the badlands of California. Her laser beam eyes seem to make the group of humans lose their minds, and for the rest of the video they do “DUMB SH!T,” like destroying an old car and throwing chairs around.

Martin Garrix x STMPD RCRDS Limited Edition Stamps Unlock Augmented Reality

From STMPD RCRDS to an actual stamp — Martin Garrix continues to make his mark.

Postage stamps may seem like an outdated yet necessary means for communication via snail mail, but leave it to the renowned producer to completely reinvent the way we use them. His own limited edition stamp sheet has a layer which can only be unlocked and accessed in augmented reality.

Garrix shares:

From an early age I’ve had stamps around me due to my dad’s company. Therefore, when starting my label, we even chose a name that refers to stamps: STMPD RCRDS. It is very special to be on a stamp myself now and I am super happy with the end result.

Artwork for the collectible stamps feature a silhouette of the global DJ, created by STMPD RCRDS’ graphic designer Boris Lammertse.

The official Martin Garrix x STMPD RCRDS x PostNL postage can be purchased here — and the app designed for the stamps can be downloaded via Google Play and the Apple Store.

It has been a decade since Skrillex’s Grammy-winning ‘Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites’ EP

By 2010 electronic dance music had already begun washing up on American shores. While the underground genre’s fuse had already been lit and an inevitable mainstream explosion was inching closer, a screamo kid from LA with big chunky black frames and a half-shaved head came in and poured a can of gasoline all over the whole thing. In the summer of 2010, Sonny Moore had released his official debut EP, My Name is Skrillex, and on October 22, he was primed for an unforgettable breakout with the ensuing Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites.

Before the days of spaceships, headlining slots, side duos, and even OWSLA, an emerging Moore had inked a deal with deadmau5‘ already fledging mau5trap imprint for the release of his sophomore EP. By the end of 2011, Moore was double Grammy-nominated and by February of 2012, he would be bringing home two golden gramophones—one for Best Dance Recording on the EP’s two-time platinum certified title track, and another for Best Dance/Electronica Album.

Nowadays, Skrillex’s second EP now plays back like a nostalgic relic of the past, yet it still manages to remain every bit as much of a hair-raising thrill ride as the first listen a decade ago. Parallel to the EP’s namesake, David Bowie‘s 14th studio album, 1980’ Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps), Skrillex’s sophomore EP struck the perfect balance of rambunctious creativity and mainstream success—a precedent in Moore’s music that remains to this day. The project would go on to be the catalyst for Moore’s own eventual label, the launch of ZEDD and Porter Robinson‘s careers among others, and ultimately cement Skrillex’s sound as the audio of the future.

By 2020, Skrillex would go on to be named Dancing Astronaut‘s top artist of the decade with a mile-long rap sheet of groundbreaking achievements since Scary Monsters. 10 years later and the EP has aged like fine wine, and while a decade in dance music actually feels more like a half-century, this project still stands as one of electronic music’s most celebrated releases. Revisit the EP that changed it all below.

Chapter & Verse – Make You Sweat

Deep Tech Los Angeles Records label head Redux Saints has pulled off another A&R coup by signing up and coming UK tech house artist, Chapter & Verse for a brand new single, “Make You Sweat”.  Chapter & Verse is Barry Pearson, an artist who made a huge impact at the start of the year with his heavily played and Beatport Top 20 breakthrough anthem ‘Dreams’. It saw him become hotly in-demand and he has followed that up with fresh productions on Materialism, South of Saturn, Mood Funk and Big Beat Records. His unique style of tense, driving tech house is perfect for high intensity dance floors. The perfectly entitled single “Make You Sweat” is a big one with high tension drum grooves, gritty production and a vocal that demands much dancefloor marching. The sci-fi synths add a futuristic feel and demonstrate that Chapter & Verse can really imbue his sounds with incredible force. Add in a rolling bassline that is muscular and meaningful and the result is a true piece of club-ready dynamite that brings plenty of fresh perspective to contemporary tech house. Check out the high energy banger below now!

REZZ Reveals New Single Out Next Week, Just In Time for Halloween

It’s been a hot minute since we heard new material from REZZ, but the wait its almost over!

The producer started off the year strong, with collaborations “Into the Abyss” with Zeds Dead and “Someone Else” with Grabbitz. Both tracks that pushed her sound forward in exciting ways and kept us on the edge of our seats. Now, she’s emerging from the darkness of 2020 with more.

“I’m putting out a new song next week,” she shares via Twitter.

No word on if it’s another collaboration or a solo original on the horizon, but it doesn’t really matter. Everything REZZ delivers keeps her cult following fully engaged.

Next week will, perhaps intentionally, put the release out right before Halloween. Hopefully REZZ has something extra spooky is in store. Check back for more details and to listen when it’s out!

Afrojack calls for an Ally Brooke encore on ‘What Are We Waiting For?’

Afrojack has plotted a return to pop with his latest Ally Brooke collaboration, “What Are We Waiting For?” Brooke, who was previously a member of Fifth Harmony, has collaborated with the Dutch producer before and is specifically memorable for her work on “All Night,” released in February.

As with “All Night,” “What Are We Waiting For?” too leads with Brooke’s vocals, but notably seeps her sung contributions in funk, striking a hearty groove that takes Afrojack’s style in a new direction. The single is a feel good release that attests to Afrojack’s multi-faceted production capabilities while taking aim at Top 40 radio airwaves .
