San Holo Shares Acoustic Cover of “I Can’t Stop” For 10 Year Anniversary

We’ve already written about how much Flux Pavilion’s Lines in Wax EP, containing the epic song “I Can’t Stop,” meant to us. Now, San Holo shares his feelings in his own way with a beautiful acoustic rendition of the hit single.

We’ve always known that Flux’s chord progressions are brilliant, but hearing them transposed to guitar and sung with San’s breathless falsetto is an absolutely beautiful tribute.

“I am so honoured by this,” Flux responded to San. “It’s beautiful. Took me from 40% – 75%. I wholly endorse a studio recorded version for my live sets.”

Stay tuned to see if San turns this into a full cover!

Australian synth wave duo Power Glove share ‘Feel It’ theme from Netflix docuseries ‘High Score’

Seldom does a theme song require a full version, but for those that happened to catch the recently released Netflix docuseries High Score, we’ve now heard the exception to the rule. Remember the feature’s opening credits—scored by that delectably funky, 8-bit-inspired dance track? When the three-part series landed in August, only the theme song’s 30-second cut was available, and now we have Australian synth wave duo Power Glove to thank for the full version.

Titled “Feel It,” the track perfectly encapsulates the intersection of gaming and dance culture—it’ll make you want to dust off the N64, or the CDJs…or both. Enough to make any French house head do a double take, “Feel It” strikes a well-rounded balance of dance floor appeal and console-inspired nostalgia. And while Power Glove may not yet be a household name, that could all be about to change.

The duo, consisting of Melbourne-based brothers Jarome and Joel Harmsworth, named for the iconic 1989 Nintendo accessory, has notably had their work featured in various games and film projects since 2012. Now, following their new Netflix-championed single, the pair are working on transitioning Power Glove into a live act and “Feel It” could be setting off a festival tent near you one day in the future. Listen below.

San Holo celebrates 10 years of Flux Pavilion’s ‘I Can’t Stop’ with acoustic rendition [Watch]

10 years ago when Flux Pavilion released his classic dubstep hit “I Can’t Stop,” the electronic music scene was forever changed. “I Can’t Stop” is largely responsible for pushing bass music into the mainstream eye. Quickly approaching 100 million streams on Spotify one decade later, the seminal single catapulted Flux Pavilion to international stardom, and paved the way for the follow-up single “I Still Can’t Stop,” from Pavilion’s iconic 2013 EP, Blow The Roof. Now, to pay tribute to the legendary tune as it realizes its 10th anniversary, Bitbird Records label head San Holo has shared an acoustic version of what is arguably Pavilion’s most celebrated track.

In a video uploaded to Twitter on October 17, Holo can be seen strumming away at his guitar, delivering the closest thing to a live rendition possible. The video has since gained widespread recognition on the social platform, leading even Pavilion himself to comment on Holo’s commemorative effort.

Whether San Holo delivers an official recording is yet to be determined, but in the meantime, fans can play the uploaded video on repeat to get their acoustic fix. Dancing Astronaut extends its enthusiastic congratulations to Flux Pavilion on 10 years of “I Can’t Stop.”

SLANDER, NGHTMRE share electrifying Virtual Vibes sets from Burning Man’s Medusa installation

At this point in the year, it’d be hopeless to attempt to rattle off each and every exhilarating locale that artists have enabled fans to visit from the comfort of their own homes. SLANDER and NGHTMRE quickly joined that conversation and appeared in one of the more unexpected sites via Virtual Vibes on October 17, their debut Gud Vibrations showcase from Burning Man’s Medusa installation with Wavedash, SVDDEN DEATH and Kraysh. For those who were unable to witness the absolutely mind-blowing Black Rock City stream firsthand, both SLANDER and NGHTMRE have now officially uploaded their multi-hour sets.

Prefacing the evening with a 90-minute, dusk-to-dawn desert performance, SLANDER took full advantage of the pyro-spewing Medusa structure, rinsing a copious measure of unreleased music, including the premiere of “Hurts Sometimes” with Fairlane and Jonathan Mendelsohn. Following the night’s back-to-back opening sets from SLANDER and Wavedash, NGHTMRE hit the decks for a charged hour-and-a-half slot, bringing out his Gud Vibrations counterpart to fittingly disclose a new collaboration, “Fall Into Me” with Dylan Matthew.

In an effort to help fans get in the mood for the end of the month’s frights, The Midnight stirred up a surprise Halloween EP, Horror Show.

While the leading synthwave act oftentimes create a cinematic atmosphere on their releases, their latest is a full-on concept album focusing on the horror movies of decades past. Described as their “…homage to the eerie romance of the stumbled upon late night black and white horror film,” the six-track EP is the perfect reminder of the campy stories that left us sleeping with the lights on.

EDDIE ‘Blueprints’ EP Track Breakdown

The mau5trap prodigy EDDIE just dropped yet another fantastic EP. We covered the lead up singles, ‘No One’s Home‘ and ‘Somewhere In Between‘ – but the whole Blueprints EP and its delivery on refreshing progressive and electro needs more recognition.

As someone who has said “u bet ur ass electro is coming back”, EDDIE is living up to that message in this EP. When asked why the Blueprints EP was created, he said:

I couldn’t go a year without releasing an EP so…here you go. Your dose of Electro House & prog.

Let’s dive into a track by track breakdown and look at what each track has to offer.

‘Sleeping With Audio‘ is a great introductory piece into the feel and direction of the EP. The track joins reflective and percussive synths with deeper, heavier sounds to create something masterly. The track is actually a sequel to a previously released track from the ‘Bad Habits’ EP. EDDIE said:

Not too long ago I released an EP called ‘Bad Habits’. On that EP, I made a track called ‘Sleeping With Machines’. It was a fitting title to the EP’s theme based around the fact that I personally am always around ‘machines’…phone, pc, tv, gaming etc. Now we have it’s follow up record, ‘Sleeping With Audio‘.

‘Shine’ is an interesting one, in the best way possible. It’s a more melodic approach to what feels like French House. Justice with a strong melody. The vocals feel very nostalgic as well, lending a guide to the otherwise groove-filled track. When asked about this track, EDDIE said:

This single was so special to me because it’s the first time I wrote lyrics, and the instrumental itself was maybe 3 or 4 years old if I remember correctly. I fixed it up a little bit but it mainly remained the same so it sounds like an older piece of EDDIE and it makes me happy

Carrying on with the electro inspired tunes, ‘The 31-79 JGb215’ definitely supplies the vibe. Filled with some of the classics – whooping high pitched synths and crunchy bass – there are new elements added. This track is bouncy and glitches in just the right spots. EDDIE agrees in the nostalgic elements, stating:

This record is a surge of nostalgia for me, the sound design and theme for this really sets the scene to when I was younger playing video games (hence the title) listening to 2008-2010 electro house hits.

No One’s Home (feat. Enya Angel)’ again shows the dichotomy that EDDIE is oscillating between – the worlds of prog and electro. For a full track breakdown, check out our premiere on the track. This track also harkens back to the ‘Bad Habits’ EP, EDDIE mentioned:

After already writing an epic tune with Enya Angel once before on the Bad Habits EP, we figured it was time to finally get our follow up tune finished!

This record is a smash. ‘Somewhere In Between’ blends the deadmau5 style saw synths effortlessly with Colleen D’agostino’s flawless voice. For a full track breakdown, we wrote about this track when it originally released – check it out here. I asked EDDIE if he had any further thoughts on the track, he said:

This single is up there with my favorites I’ve ever done, and its with the amazing Colleen D’agostino’s mesmerizing vocals. I’m so glad we were able to work together on something so special!

Woof, this one slaps. Back again with another electro-style track, EDDIE shows us his proficiency in production. This track is crisp, heavy, hard hitting, and a perfect way to wrap things up. This is definitely one of my favorites on the EP.
