Valentino Khan triples down on French electro approach with hectic EP single, ‘Division’


Valentino Khan has not truly held back his production vigor in the slightest since the initial disclosure of his French Fried EP. Following the delivery of both “Blackmail” and “Deathproof” in just under a month’s time, the Mad Decent resident has the incoming project’s third piece ready to go with “Division” as the EP’s October 21 due date hastily approaches.

“Division” neatly falls in line with its two predecessors and continues to hold its own through Khan’s unique approach on a modern rejuvenation of French electro. Bursting straight into action with a rumbling mid-tempo bassline, and lightly reminiscent of music from none other than one of the genre’s greatest, Gesaffelstein, “Division” places itself amongst the growing list of releases that eventually deserved to be experienced in a live setting.

DEMUR Drops Timely And Powerful New Track, “A Little Bit Nervous” with ANSON


DEMUR is back with his latest anthem highlighting current events; however, this track was made three years ago and he’s just been waiting for the right time to put it out.

“A Little Bit Nervous” reflects how a lot of us are feeling about the state of… everything right now. The music is almost has a Rise Against edge to it with some big bang electronica thrown in for a persistently catchy song. The music video helps to further define the message of the song, with imagery reflecting the current COVID-19 pandemic and social unrest that our country has been facing this year.

SVDKO Makes Sonic Debut with ‘It’s SADKO’ EP


After a long period of uncertainty, Belgium-based artist SVDKO is fully bringing his artistic vision to life, releasing a stunning debut EP with it’s SADKO. The young talent has been showcasing his unique electronic productions for a handful of years now, amassing millions of streams on digital platforms while building a dedicated fanbase. With massive achievements under his belt, such as a placement on an Apple commercial with his original “Worth It”, SVDKO is undoubtedly rising faster than ever, and his debut EP is definite proof of that.

A handful of years after his debut single, SVDKO finally feels like he sees a clear path in his career and creative output as an artist, channeling his classical background, as well as varied influences from the likes of Flume, Mura Masa and Red Hot Chili Peppers. His debut, 4-track project is out independently and goes through a variety of pop and R&B sounds, all laced with distorted guitars and glossy electronic production. Introductory track “Terrify” featuring NY-based singer/songwriter ÊMIA does an amazing job of pulling listeners into SVDKO’s universe, while touching on the downfall of a relationship that operates on pride and aggression as opposed to communication and compromise. Vulnerable and impactful, “Too Different” with vocal lines by Akacia and colorful instrumental gem “Blossom” take the energy forward, while “Out Of Body” rounds up the story in a classy way, driven by a mysterious singer and trap-inspired production. 

When I started writing ‘It’s SADKO” I was unsure about the direction I wanted to take. Being a guitar player since my young age, I never thought about using it in my songs until earlier this year. It really boosted my creativity and gave me confidence to create an EP which combines the electronic and guitar worlds. This project is a personal journey created not only by me but also by people that I have been working with for a while now and that I really care about,” explains SVDKO.

A-Trak spins stellar remix of WEISS, Harry Romero’s ‘Where Do We Go?’


For more than two decades, A-Trak has been one of the most reputable names in dance music, pioneering the way for every turntablist, DJ, and producer who’s succeeded him. With all of his remixes and original tracks topping the charts year after year, sometimes it seems like he can do no wrong, and his most recent remix for WEISS and Harry Romero‘s “Where Do We Go?” only further supports this theory.

On October 10, A-Trak took to social media to detail his ambition for the remix. Although the original is “big and muscular and chunky,” A-Trak said in an Instagram video, the goal of his remix was to downsize the sound, making it “more restricted and smaller” while adding a touch of bounciness and more room to dance. Autograf announced The Ace of You, which is six years in the making, earlier in the month of October. Ahead of the record’s October 23rd release via Armada, the guys have developed branded decks of cards that they are giving away to fans who pre-save it. The elegant cards correlate to the album’s tracks, and each one features custom artwork.

Autograf took to Instagram to share a glimpse into the limited edition cards. “You guys mean the world to us & we’d love to give back by sending everyone the deck of cards from our debut album ‘The Ace of You,'” they wrote in the caption of the post, which also features their kitten. “Just share a screenshot of you pre-saving our album here!”

Dancing Astronaut celebrates National Album Day 2020: quarantine staff selects


If there is anything that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has made incontrovertibly clear, it is the enduring power of music. In even the most erratic and tumultuous of times, music assuages, and 2020 is living proof.

In the United States and around the world, music soundtracked listeners’ respective quarantines, providing solace and a reprieve from oft-grim realities. The albums that streamers came to rely on during this period, new and familiar alike, would leave indelible impressions on those who listened, and in the weeks, months, and years to follow the COVID-19 health crisis, like the power of music, these sonic bonds will not fade.

In honor of National Album Day, observed on October 10, 2020, Dancing Astronaut staff share the cross-genre LPs that carried them through the COVID-19 quarantine.


KygoGolden Hour

“Based on the Golden Hour singles alone, I definitely had lofty expectations that Kygo‘s third album could potentially unseat what I believe to be his magnum opus, Cloud Nine. Just about everything from Golden Hour‘s 19-song tracklist has been in my daily rotation since its full delivery in May, and I wholeheartedly believe that it’s truly some of Kygo’s greatest work to date.
