Ultra Music Festival officially cancels 2021 dates

After waiting on an official announcement in an effort to secure its 2022 dates, Ultra Music Festival has been forced to cancel for a second year in a row. Generally seen as the commencement of festival season, Ultra’s 2021 cancellation effectively signals another gutted spring events circuit. Ticket holders were contacted by Ultra organizers to announce the cancellation, citing ongoing health concerns and COVID-19 protocols, as well as the announcement of 2022’s dates.

As a bit of a silver lining, Ultra’s cancellation announcement comes with confirmation that next year’s event will return to the event’s beloved host site of Bayfront Park in Miami, following a tumultuous 2019 iteration at Virginia Key Beach Park after being booted from Bayfront the previous year. Now, Ultra aims to return to Miami in 2022 for a March 25 – 27 run. In lieu of direct ticket refunds, similarly to 2020, other positives include a host of benefits for 2020 ticket holders including free VIP upgrades, early entry to the festival grounds, and a free ticket to any other Ultra worldwide event across the globe.

While other major festival properties have closed the book on 2021, including Glastonbury and Coachella, other events such as Electric Forest ambitiously look to return this summer.
